Named for the tiny village in the heart of France, Accolay pottery has a rich legacy. It’s here, as the 20th century entered its second half, that a group of ceramicists settled and began to create striking pieces of earthenware that soon drew legions of fans from all over the country and beyond. Although each brought a distinct aesthetic and skills, their collective work is defined by sculptural silhouettes, functionality—essential to customers during this chapter in time—an organic, almost unfinished earthiness, and vibrant colors. This slimline 1950s vase offers both depth and asymmetry, thanks to its ombré colors, tonal bands, and light speckling that emphasize its handmade provenance.
